Computers & Internet - 15 November 2007

My mother board (which I am NOT replacing) is only rated, (and only works) with 350 watts or less. How do I use a 400 watt video card with this system. I am willing to buy anything, cost is not a concern, but I would like to keep it as low as possible. No I will not buy a new computer. PLEASE keep the computer jargon to a minimum, it gets kind of annoying.

Could anyone help me?

My monitor keep turning black (as if it's shut off) and at time messes the picture up with lines running though it or moving the screen around. How do I stop it from doing this?

i have 3 computers, one laptop and 2 desktop computers. i have one of the desktops hooked up to DSL but i want to hook the laptop onto wireless internet and i want to hook the other desktop up too. the problem is that i don't have a wall jack thing in the room where i want the second desktop computer. how should i manage this set up? is it possible to have a desktop computer on wireless internet as well as a laptop?

I am looking to upgrade a 4 year old Dell Desktop. I have found Mercury KMV800M Motherboard (new) with a preinstalled Athlon 2700+ CPU for a reasonable price. I do not use this machine for gaming, mostly web surfing, some photo shop stuff, and limited word processing. This is a family computer, and does not need to be the fastest or most decked out machine out there.

My computer slows right down when i've got three web pages open (Firefox browser). For example if i'm signing into MSN while watching something on youtube, the song stops and starts etc and the whole computer just seems to slow down. Do i need more memory? I don't have much stuff stored on it - i've got an external hard drive which i keep most of my things on. I've defragmented, ran spyware, got up to date virus prog etc.

All I have is a crossover cable, Desktop and Laptop (Desktop with ADSL internet, so no ports there!).

There are obviously LAN ports on my Desktop and Laptop, is all I need to do is connect them together with my crossover cable? Sort of Plug 'n' Play?

all of the sudden my internet went down at my work. We have 3 computers on one router - the other computers have internet just fine. so it's obviously my computer. i restarted the router. still didnt help. i tried to go to ipconfig/release then /renew and it wont work. Just says that no 'media is connected'. i also tried to just let windows 'repair' it and it got stuck on 'renew ip address' and just said it couldn't do it.

Any help would be MUCHLY appreciated!!!!!

I have an HP 7570n media center computer and I want to add a second internal hard drive. I have never done this before but I think I can hook it up and get it working ok. My question is how do I mount an new hard drive inside my computer? Do new hard drives come with screws and brackets to bolt them down solid? What it a good drive to buy? Is there way to look up and make sure a new drive will work with my model of computer? I heard some models of computers will not support some of the larger hard drives out there, is this true? If possible I would like to find a 500GB or larger drive.

I am trying to make a powerpoint presentation and I can't find how to. There is now icon that says "powerpoint presentation", there is only one that says powerpoint viewer. I have a computer with WinXP Chinese version and I want to also get it to my other computer without having to erase the XP Chinese on the original computer. I dont have a XP Chinese disk. So if I do a backup of the OS with some software (please suggest) and put it into the other computer and install, will it work?

My comp will detect the wireless and then ask for the key when I connect. Once I connect I get a warning saying limited connection (yellow triangle) Is there a conflict between my modem and the router? Or is there an IP issue that I'm missing?

I have a Linksys router and pci card. I have one pc hardwired to the router and the other has the card installed for wireless. On my hardwired computer I have internet. However on the computer with the pci card I do not. The strange thing is that the router and pci card are connecting but on the computer with the card it says internet not found. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I know alot of people who can't login and instead, will get direct to google's homepage. Well its been over a month so i'm using proxies to get by. I can do everything but now i'm trying to edit something and when it ask for me to type the security code....even if i type it in right..it just refeshes the page and asks me to type it again as if i didn't do it. I did it for liek 10 minutes straight but it just keeps on asking me to retype it
