I have a computer with WinXP Chinese version and I want to also get it to my other computer without having to erase the XP Chinese on the original computer. I dont have a XP Chinese disk. So if I do a backup of the OS with some software (please suggest) and put it into the other computer and install, will it work?

One does not usually copy an operating system from one computer to another. The reason is that Operating Systems make the hardware components of a specific computer work with each other and with the software.

You must install the OS you want on the computer you want it on from a Master Disk, and the two must have been designed to accomodate each other. This usually means that you have to create a new separate partition on the computer so that the new OS will not interfere with the old OS. If you just want a new OS and dont care about the old one, just wipe the hard disk clean and install the new OS, but be sure you know where the Master Disks are for any software you intend to keep are.

Your not allowed to have the same copy of Windows XP on two different computers. Microsoft says 1 copy 1 PC.

If it weren't illegal, and both PCs were exactly hardware identical, yes.

If even one hardware component is different, no.

Save yourself the frustration and buy XP for the second PC, or switch to Ubuntu Linux, free from:

You would need a program to copy the partition. There is one called partition magic but not free..
