how can you tell if a site is legit?

im buying shoes from ajkings.com maybe
and im not sure if they are 100 percent legit
how can you find out?

i looked at the who is and stuff

but i dont get it
wat is an ssl encryption

and i want to make sure this site is 100 percent legit, with real shoes before i buy something because my mom is making the purchase with her credit card and i dont want any fraud trouble and all that, its just the prices here are a bit lower than other prices and they have many different colors that other stores do not have

my suggestion is go to mcafee's website, they have a free toolbar download for a SiteAdvisor, the website will give you a color code green, yellow, red, or grey. That is what I use to decide what sites to go to and what to stay away from. This also can help protect you from any hidden viruses and hidden spyware.

You can search Google for the site name and see if you can find anyone making complaints about it. If not, ensure that their online ordering system uses SSL security and use a credit card or Paypal to purchase. If you have problems, contact your credit card company, report the charge as fraudulent and you get your money back.

Check the whois on the domain, if it is recently registered it is normally dodgy. Also check to make sure your connection is secure. If it does turn out to be dodgy, you should be able to claim for fraud from the bank
