I want to upgrade my laptop.
I dont mean physically by any hardware changes but i want to make my laptop work faster
Is there any means that i could make it work faster without spending my money on it
I wanted to overclock my cpu but in my bios setting i cant go to the cpu option
id be very grateful

My notebook specs:

intel pentium III @ 1.2 ghz
128 mb of ram (i dont know the clock speed)
windows xp sp2 with crystal xp added on it

I brought my daughter a laptop of ebay for christmas with 7 days return garuentee and i payed through paypal.so i got the laptop and it was excellent its a compaq evo n1020v with with windows xp profesional but after the 7 days it started to freeze randomly and even though the battery doesnt hold charge (which we knew about before we brought it anyway) when i unplug the mains it dont switch off so i have to hold the power button in to turn it off then sometimes when you restart it always turns on but sometimes the screens blank or sometimes it works for a bit then freeze's suddenly so i re-installed windows xp and still it freezes , i rang hp for support they are suggesting its either the HD THE MEMORY OR THE MOTHERBOARD how much do think this will cost? should i try get my money back from paypal? can i still after 7 days garentee get it back? or can i repair it myself ?

Is GeForce 7300GT a good video card? I had it since last yr December but haven't really use it because I'm not an experienced gamer. I just play sports game and some FPS games, sometimes strategy game. Mostly EA games. Well, i had a limited budget, should I change it or it is good enough for now? Lifespan of the card? 2 more years?

Since yesterday, all pages viewed on IE7 are misaligned, characters are irregularly spaced, tables are offset, editors do not work anymore...
I have checked with FF, Opera, Netscape and all is ok.
So, What happened to IE7?

Here's the situation:
- I can't open any PDF files on my university's lecture material site
- I've got three computers installed with the latest versions of acrobat reader and firefox but all three can not open the file
- The files could be opened three weeks ago on the same computers
- The files can now be opened on any other computer (e.g. library computers) except for mine
- No settings were changed on any of my three computers
HELP asap!

I noticed when i design a website.. im over critical on it..
the typical "naaah doesnt look good" or something along those lines..

What bugs me is, am i a perfectionist or over-critical on myself because this happens ALOT for me?

I mean, obviously while your designing, theirs some things that you know just plain dont look good.. but when i finish a designs outline.. i always think its not good enough.. even when i look at other similiar designs and those look WORSE... Even when i do finish a design and like it.. a bit later ill look back on it and think it sucks and scrap it..

Its extremely fustrating to me because what if the design i just finished is actually really good, but because of my thoughts on it, i end up scrapping it and starting over thus waisting a perfectly good template...


Is this a problem? something i have to live with? something that can be helped?

any opinions on this if you can relate are much appreciated!

I wanted to upgrade my pc, it's currently 3 yrs old, Pentium IV 3Ghz, 1GB DDR ram, 80GB hard disk, SAMSUNG cdrw/dvd combo drvie, 256mb GeForce 7300 GT.

These are the general info, in which area should I improvise? Is the graphic card not good enough for gaming? I changed it last year but haven't really try on other games besides FIFA07 and PES. The higher the resolution I put, the pc will kinda lag. How come? Is it the memory too low? How much is the 1GB ram and dvd burner? Any ideas to improve the current settings? I wanted that kind of pc which works well in all the pc games! Does the motherboard plays any role in gaming?

ok i have optamized my system and have run a anit viruse/spyware/adware in safe mode and defraged, wtf am i doing wrong here it only climbs when i use my internet explorer, and evenchaly locks up i have my own personal fire wall, i have tryed everything and now i am out of ideas. can anyone help me? and yes i have configed my start up settings and have tryed to uninstall and re-install internet explorer 7. im out of ideas people. I was just curious how exactly to tell if my motherboard supports this, because i am not quite sure if it does. My motherboard is a gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H. I bought it this last summer, so i am pretty sure it would support it, but i cant find it anywhere on the product specifications on newegg and on the gigabyte website.

For some reason, whenever i shut down my computer and then turn it back on, my admin account is automatically loaded without asking for any password. This is really frustating because i dont want any of my family to access my files. This has never happened before so i imediatly scanned for viruses, spyware and whatnot and nothing turned up. I kaperskys internet secruity 6.0, spybot - seach n destroy, and windows defender installled.

How can i fix this?

It for my old school class, i want to make a photo board so there is a "then" and "now" photo of them, like 2 headshots next to each other.

Can anyone help me with this?

I would like it so that it is in a gallery style and with each persons photos together

maybe a game of "jumbled up" and you need to match them up if thats possible?

Running XP Home.
Volume C: is now almost full and I think this is slowing down my pc. I always have to cleanup to gain space. I can't find anything big that is clogging the C (none that I want to take away).
The other 2 volumes have a lot of files on them.
MY PLAN: buy an external drive; copy all files from 2 volumes to the new drive.
But how do I get rid of the 2 volumes and have C take up the full hard drive?
Will I be putting drive C in danger by doing ... whatever you are going to suggest?
