I have WMP11 in a Windows XP SP2 OS. However, WMP seems unable to play video clips in wmv format on a consistent basis, perhaps because of codec issues. I have been using WinAmp as my default player for most video clips, but WMP is sometimes activated for videos, then won't play them. How do I update WMP11 so that it will play all wmv videos if it's automatically activated by the video clip itself? Please, only answers from people who really know what they're talking about.

I have seen people ask about Dell laptops, and an answer I continually see is "Don't buy Dells the used to use exploding batteries, buy a Toshiba instead." Now there are two things about that I don't understand, firstly, Toshiba issued a recall because they were using those same exploding batteries made by Sony, so recommend them over Dell? And secondly, why the heck does it matter what either company used to use, neither uses them now. Can anyone else make any sense of this logic?

I have an Acer laptop and it's really cheap, only $490.
The battery power is at 100% yet the maximum number of minutes you could go on is 12-15 min. Why is that?
NOW the laptop's battery goes dead whenever you turn it on with out the recharger. You can't even turn it on with out the laptop's battery going out.

I'm planning to buy a laptop and I'm torn between two Intel processors--dual core t2130 & celeron 1.73. It's obvious that the celeron is much cheaper than the dual core but what about the performance?

I know I should get an AGP computer but right now I'm short on cash. Someone posted something similar about an hour ago and it reminded me to ask this.

I currently have a 128 MB PCI Graphics Card and thinking about getting a new game that came out recently. I already meet the minimum system requirements of the game but is it worth spending between $50 and $100 on a 256MB PCI Graphics Card? I have some lag and slow loading time on Online Games when there is a lot of activity in a small space.

How much of a difference would it make in my gameplay? I'd like to cut down lag and run a smoother game is all, rather than better graphics. But is it worth it? What would be a great 256 MB PCI Graphics Card? Thanks!

it say's it supports DDR3, does this mean that it only supports DDR3 or it also supurt DDR2. i mean can i also have DDR2 RAMs in it?

one more question:
if i get a motherboard which suports both DDR2 and DDR3, can i have difrent RAMs of each or i have to have, either DDR2 or DDR3. i mean can i have a DDR2 and a DDR3 at the same time?

I have Sony Vaio VGN-N250E which came preloaded with Vista Home Premium. Since I don't like Vista, I want to install Windows XP Professional. Can I get all the drivers on the internet so that I have no problem with windows XP? Do I have to follow any special procedure to uninstall vista and install XP.

I have 20 integers in an array and I am picking out all the even numbers. But then I am supposed to display all of them in a message box. I can display them in a Label

But when I change it to
message = message & x.ToString & ", "
MessageBox.Show(message, "Name", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information)

The second 'message' has the green scribbled line and the error that the variable message has been assigned before it has been assigned a value. The numbers will show, but in one message box at a time. What am I forgetting? Any ideas?

Everything was fine with my computer.A windows xp. I shut it down as usual. Having no problems for 1 year. Next day I opened it up problem was the fan seemed louder than usual plus the monitor wasn't running. It said it's wasn't plugged in I checked for it it was plugged in. What seems to be the problem?

I currently have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (socket 939) and am looking to upgrade to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 of 4000+ or more. As long as I keep the same socket size (939), will it work? Can I use my existing fan? Is there any software/firmware that I need to make my BIOS work with it?

Okay, I need a new Graphics Card for games....

I'm using an ATI Radeon 9250 128 MB graphics card in a Dell 2400 computer right now. Not the best, but I'm able to play such games as Star Wars Galaxies with it.

I am oblivious to Graphic Card lingo, the entire "X1600 series" and "8800 series" boggles me so be nice when explaining.

I'm just looking for a good, 256 or 512MB Graphics Card so I can play games smoothly, with as little lag/loading time as possible, for as little as possible. Playing at low, medium, and high settings doesn't matter as much, but its always a bonus. I'd prefer my price range to be within $50 and $150. And I'd prefer 512MB.

I've seen 512MB cards on Ebay for around 80 bucks (link below), anything wrong with those?

Last time I saw it was yesterday on my desktop and I KNOW that I didnt delete it so where the hell is it??T__T it has all my precious pics and anime in it...
I checked the recycle bin, I checked the other folders in the desktop and I checked my documents,no one could have deleted it because:
-My pc is protected with a password and I'm 100000% sure that no one knows wat it is
-It was there yesterday
-When I leave my pc open and go for a while I always change the timing of the screensaver to 1 min and check the "resume to welcome screen" box
-No one was there to do something to it

And the other weird thing about it is when i was looking for it, I clicked on one of the songs in "My recent documents" menu, and the song played normally!! Cause if the folder is deleted so will the songs in it and if I click on it from the,for example,My recent documents menu it will ask to browse for it.I tried it 3 times in 3 different players and the songs played normally...SO WATS GOIN ON?
