I have Sony Vaio VGN-N250E which came preloaded with Vista Home Premium. Since I don't like Vista, I want to install Windows XP Professional. Can I get all the drivers on the internet so that I have no problem with windows XP? Do I have to follow any special procedure to uninstall vista and install XP.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

THAT IS VERY EASY.
The only thing you have to do is going on the Sony site and download the drivers for your mobile.
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?PRODTYPE=1,24,26,66,9,70,5,72
Then you need a XP with a licence
---
Or you can get a Sony Recovery CD in XP Home
---
MS permits the downgrading Vista to XP only for the Pro versions for free

For the thumb down...
In France, you can by the Original CD XP for VAIO for 20 €, that means 30$

Use Everest or Aida or any pgm who gives you informations on you motherboard.
The go on the board's manufacturer and download the drivers.
For instance, if your bios is a VIA, go to viaarena.com and download hyperion 5 in 1, you'll got everything you need.
By the way, Best Buy are crooks if they charge you 150 $ for nothing

It really depends on the machine.

If the machine has any hardware that was created after the release of Vista, there might not be an XP (or earlier) driver for that device. Microsoft actually encourages this practice.

I did a little searching, and found the following links to XP drivers for your machine. Use them at your own risk.

I found out the hard way that NO!!! YOU CAN NOT INSTALL Windows XP on a Vista machine...

I got charged $150.00 to get everything "Fixed" and have Vista put back on...

If you put Vista on you will be 100% unable to put the drivers for your hardware on XP.

I had a BRAND NEW FOOKING COMPUTER purchased from Best Buy and I put XP on it and NOTHING WORKED...

Not the Sound Card, not the Ethernet Card... NOTHING.

I was ONLY able to start it up and run Office.

I took it back to Best Buy and they said that there is NO WAY to get them to work together.

Just as an easier solution, in Vista, for the programs that aren't working, have you tried right-clicking on the shortcut, going to Properties, clicking on the Compatibility tab and running in Compatibility Mode for XP?

Check Sony's website first, some newer laptops dont provide XP drivers anymore, so if theres none or not a full set, then you will have a real headache

This has been asked and answered a dozen times in the last 10 days. I suggest you do a bit of snooping through the answers before attempting this.

No, Windows probably WON'T let you downgrade easily. The many (many) drivers that came with your system might not be easily found or downloadable on the web. I've built (or been forced to rebuild) dozens of computers. It's a long painful process if you want it to resemble and support the features built into the laptop.

I would check with sony to see if all your drivers are available for XP. They are making some machines now that are not compatible with XP.

As far as installing, just wipe it, format and install.

I think you just have to throw in the XP CD and you should be good to go.
