Thanks Yahzmin. I can get to the website and it will allow me to go to the customize screen. (all while never actually seeing my avatar). Once at the customize screen it will not go any futher. The next page says done but nothings there!

I was building this computer for vista then change my mind after all the horror stories now I'm not hearing anything so I'm considering it agian but I"m getting vista ultimate and is 2GB eonough to run like three or four apps without slowing my pc down also i have

dual core 2.98 ghz processor and
a nvidia readon 256 ddr2 graphics card

I was 'cleaning' some stuff up in add/remove folder earlier, and it so happens that I deleted something related to having sound from the comp... Sucking pretty badly with computers, I have absolutely no clue how to fix that. I've read about a few tips, but it seems nothing is related to my problem. I keep getting the msg that I need to locate my CD-ROM installation.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I have just used crucial.com to check how much memory i have on my laptop. It says i have 256MB of RAM, but when i go to control panel>performance and maintenance>system, it says the i have 504MB RAM. Is my laptop right, or crucial.com. I don't know what to do as i was hoping to upgrade my memory and add more RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't open pdf files. Adobe acrobat told me to uninstall the one I have and then reinstall the new version but I can't uninstall the old one. Adobe support finally told me to contact them by phone for help which I tried but all of the options to get to support I end up with the recording saying "good bye!" Very frustrating.

I bought a decent computer (which I am considering taking back). It has decent specifications and a large hard drive but only a 4200 RPM hard drive speed. How much will lthis slow down my computer? I'm having trouble with my Windows Explorer. For the last few days, every time I open my browser it just sits there blank and does nothing for about 10 minutes. After that, it loads up and everything seems to work OK. I downloaded Explorer 7 but it still does the same thing. I've scanned for viruses and none found. I've ran updates for Windows, I've shut off Norton, but nothing seems to help. Please Help!

i have a desk top PC on broadband
(not wireless or anything)

1. can other people on my street/area, use my internet connection if they are wireless? (or would i have to have wirless too)

2. If they can, how do i stop the thieving little b*****d's?

Reason:
I have always had pop ups telling me, the security had blocked something accessing something or other and all was fine.
Now i have ZoneAlarm on here, which i have choosen to see the info of what it is blocking.
Most of them are fine (just asking if i want to allow M/F or IE access the Internet) when i load up.
But
there is one in particular, that only happens at evening/night (about 20x) which roughly says:
'ZoneAlarm has blocked blah blah accessing the Internet'
and it gives this number 192.168.1.1

3. can someone please tell me what that is, if it is not someone else trying to use my connection.

I get this confounded error message - "System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and setting were not changed"

Has ANYBODY been able to perform a System Restore on Windows Vista (in normal mode). This seems to be too big of a problem for Window not to notice!?!?!
