I can't open pdf files. Adobe acrobat told me to uninstall the one I have and then reinstall the new version but I can't uninstall the old one. Adobe support finally told me to contact them by phone for help which I tried but all of the options to get to support I end up with the recording saying "good bye!" Very frustrating.

Download FoxIt Reader...it's free and faster/better than Adobe in my opinion.

Yeah, contacting Adobe by phone is never fun.

Try this to uninstall Acrobat:

Go to Start > Control Panel.
Double click Add/Remove Programs
Find all Acrobat related products, i.e. Acrobat, Distiller etc. and remove these.

You'll have to reboot your machine.

When you restart the machine go to Program Files and see what's left, all this stuff should be in the Adobe folder. Again delete anytying you see related to Adobe Acrobat.

You can also download Gary Utilities free at: http://www.glaryutilities.com

If you get a message while removing that certain files were not removed, use the Gary Utilities - File Shredder.

Hope this helps

Download the free Foxit Reader. It's faster than Adobe Reader. If you're using the full version of Acrobat, call their sales department (you will always get a person if you're calling to buy something), and have the sales person get a live person for you on their help desk.

Adobe acrobat or adobe reader sucks.... I recommend downloading Foxit Pdf Viewer... It is a much smaller utility that works just as great! Trust me, you wont regret downloading it.

Totally free. Btw , it doesn't use as much resources as adobe acrobat or adobe reader.

Try going to the adobe site and just downloading the latest version. If this does not work download CCleaner.exe, use it to show your software, it often manages to uninstall them even when their own uninstallers don't work or they don't show an uninstaller. After this run the registry cleaner to remove any left-over entries.

this might seem stupid, and forgive me, yet one has to rule out all possibilities first. You DO have Adobe Reader on your pc? if so, I even have chanced on over the years that normally if the document you attempt to open replaced into initially created in a diverse version to this methodology you have, it does not continually open whilst clicking on the document icon. although, I even have by no potential had any hardship in any respect whilst beginning this methodology first and then beginning the document from in this methodology. If this does not artwork, in all probability the document has been corrupted in some way and that i might advise getting in the time of the get carry of technique lower back.

i know it's very frustrating. It's actually a paid support for $39. Are you on Windows or MaC?

for Win: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb400728
if you're on Mac, just email me

then do a fresh install of Adobe Reader 8.1
