Can you say PINK SLIP. You CANNOT delete the internet history from the temporary files if you are not the administrator. This is why they have administrators so people dont go surfing all over the place or try to give away company secrets to competitors without the company's knowledge.
All I can tell you is be prepared if you have been doing something you shouldn't as those temp files will tell date and also time and where you were. Hopefully your boss will warn you the first time.
Horror story: I was hired by a security co. to do computer work for a site they were at that was having computer problems(viruses) I went into the temp. files of the computer to find the night shift had been watching porn and doing things at times they were supposed to be logged out on rounds. Needless to say the entire nightshift was fired and I was told to make all internet access inaccessable except for the company website used for commmunications.

Sorry, you can't, as it is not likely you will have access to the necessary files to delete them. So best think of another approach to save your bacon. In anycase if he really wanted to know what you have been doing on the computer he could find out.
A couple of things you could try. If you have computer technicians to sort out computer problems - confess that whilst doing research you inadvertantly hit inappropriate sites and you feel it would be better for security reasons that they are cleaned off the system.
I mean it could happen to anyone couldn't it?
Or if the boss should tun up at a slack moment and doesn't seem in a hurry to get on to the golf course, engage him in a rather tricky work problem that obviously needs his expertise to resolve or get him waffling about his pet subject.
Bosses aren't the problem. Usually the problem are jobsworths, especially those who march to the office at the least misdemenour. Then bosses are a problem, a big problem because they have to act. After all if you do something you ought not to have done and the boss finds out, he has to wrap your knuckles.

If you had been working and not surfing around the web, you wouldn't be in this problem now.
