i read on a forum that using two different memory speeds can cause "lag spikes"
i have a 512mb kingston value(pc3200) and a 512mb kingston hyper(pc3200)
could this be causing the lag i am experiencing in some games?
i have a spare 256mb pc3200 module(kinston value),would the drop in memory be worth the sacrifice just to cure the lag in games
any ideas?
cheers guys !

I have a web site I created for the movie theatre I manage. The site is database driven and the pages are in PHP. This is all stuff I learned on my own for the sake of creating this site. My boss has already indicated to me that I can package and sell the site to other theatres if any are interested.

Because the basic structure is already created, I would pretty much just be reusing the same files modified for other clients. I'm just curious to know how you would bundle and sell the site.

As it stands, the site has a customer side which includes a schedule page, a coming soon page, an interface for users to rate movies, an interface for users to suggest/request movies, and a mailing list with automated sign-up.

And there is an administration side which includes an interface for inputing movies, time, show dates, an interface for sending out the newsletter, and a variety of reports.

Hello,

My internal hard disk was damaged recently and so I had to buy a new one and re-install everything from the beginning, and everything works super fine, except for the LAN cable, which it doesn't pick up whenever I plug it in. Before the disk broke, I used to just plug in a cable and the internet would work right away, but now when I plug it in nothing happens.

My wireless works fine, but I also need it to work with the LAN.

So what should I do? I read on another answer here that maybe it's a problem of the driver, but I downloaded and installed all the ones that the laptop manufacturer put on their website, so how do I figure out which driver I need so I can go look for it on the web?

Thanks!

My new (cable) net provider is only allowing single computer connection. They're not allow me to use a router.

So every time I want to use/change to a different computer I have to call them to "clearhost."

How is this possible? Is there anyway they can detect me when I use a router? Is there any workaround?

Thanks.

I also have problems with some clips sent to me on email. They download to my document file OK where they play normally, but I can't actually look at them immediately with the email they're attached to. The little screen is just frozen with jagged lines all over it although I am able to hear the video as it plays. Simple language please as I don't understand computer jargon.

The server computer is connected to a network switch, router and a DSL modem with an static address (router and switch are AirLink). The remote computer is conected to the internet with an ISP (and later I will connect this remote to a modem with a dynamic address in DSL).
I already connected them directly through the telephone lines using PcA and it worked. I also connected them to the network switch with PcA with the TCP/IP host address and it works.
But when I set the remote through an ISP connection it seems that the router is refusing the connection.
Help me stating information required and where to input it.
I would greatly appreciate clear and precise steps, I am not an expert but would like to learn to do it by myself. Thanks in advance.

My pc is your standard P4 and has one NIC, and I have a cable Comcast internet connection. I'm looking to add a redundant connection with DSL for automatic failover or even two full time connections, if that's at all possible. That way if one connection drops, I'll still have the internet access. Thank you so very much in advance!!!!!!!

I just brought a LinkSys wireless router like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124010

I've been told it's the best router, so on so forth. I follow the on-screen instruction and when it was trying to connect to the internet, it said it can't be found! Why??

I like to note that I have Verizon's Westell VersaLink 372W as my modem box AND router... but they left me with no instructions or CD. Is that the problem? Please, all I want is a secured wireless connection damn it -.-

I've actually had this problem for over a month, but it has happened more and more frequently.

The laptop doesn't always turn on when I press the On button. Instead, the leds for the power and battery flicker green for a little bit before they die. Sometimes it will turn on, and now it is to the point where it will turn on 1 out of 50+ times of pressing the button.

I chatted with Dell Technical Support last week, and they suggested that I take off the mid-hinge covering. I did, and and it turned on. I replaced the covering, and it worked a few more times. However, I encountered the same problem today and taking off the covering didn't solve the problem. The computer did miraculously turn on though...

Other details:
-Purchased in August 2004
-Warranty ran out this August
-I am currently in Singapore and want my laptop to last the rest of the year until I return to the States.

I have Duo core laptop with 1GB RAM. I have two problems.

My laptop often shows high CPU usage approaching 100% although only few windows of Internet Explorer are open. Even if I do not run any application it shows usage of about 50%.

When I type, some characters do not get typed although I press corresponding keys. There is no problem with keyboard as all keys are working correctly.

Can anyone help?

I have a few questions, but first some background information. So I wanted to run an ethernet cord into my room to use with my computer, but I also want a NAS and a printer. Now I have seen some NAS's that come with USB ports as well and some of these explicitly say you can connect a printer but not all.
1. Do all NAS's with USB ports support adding a printer?
I have also seen some NAS's with multiple ethernet ports.
2. Does this mean that I can plug one into the router and the other into my computer?
3. Will it be as if I was directly connected to the router?
Assuming the answers to both of those are yes the I should be able to buy a NAS with 2 ethernet ports and at least 1 USB port to solve all my problems.
4.Is that assumption correct?

Other information is its a 2WIRE modem/router with 4 ethernet ports (im trying to not run 2 cords to my room) and there are 3 computers on the network.
