I just brought a LinkSys wireless router like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124010

I've been told it's the best router, so on so forth. I follow the on-screen instruction and when it was trying to connect to the internet, it said it can't be found! Why??

I like to note that I have Verizon's Westell VersaLink 372W as my modem box AND router... but they left me with no instructions or CD. Is that the problem? Please, all I want is a secured wireless connection damn it -.-

Hello,

You already have a wireless modem/router combo unit that verizon has given you. You will not beable to install a second router in this situation.

You can do one of 3 things.
1) Purchase a DSL Modem and take away the westel and connect the new router to the new dsl modem.
2) Contact Verizon and see if they will swap your Modem/Router unit for just a mode.
3) Take back the linksys and get your money back as the westel Modem/Router has everything you already need and will work almost if not just as good as your linksys router.

Since you already have a router, a second one is not a lot of use, and causes conflicts. You should have bought a wireless access point. The existing router then controls the connection, and the access point allows the wireless to it direct.

unplug both devices, the router and modem.

Then power up the modem first, then wait a couple of mins, then power on the router by plugging it back in.

Also try bypassing the router all together and make sure that you can hook up the modem with directy into your PC to verfiy your internet is working.

well, if the router cant see the internet you'll need to call your isp to bind your router to their internet connection.

the router isn't locking-up the connection and its not obtaining and ip, subnet etc... reason could be that your router is new and
the registered MAC address on your isp's computer is the old router/lan card.

reset the router and call your isp and have them lock your router's mac-address. this will solve your problem
