Have a laptop at home that the hard drive went out on. Really wanna get it up and running again. As an alternative to paying someone to do it, was wondering if it was pretty easy to replace on my own. Has anyone ever did a self install on a laptop? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the HP Pavilion DV6324us notebook and as it comes without a PCMCIA slot (an express card slot is a bit too forward thinking IMHO). I want to know if there are any adapters and/or any other options that are available for this notebook that would allow me to use PCMCIA cards with the notebook.

I had to reinstall all the programs on my PC,due to virus infestation,and I could not install the sound on my PC becuase I don't have any kind of CD ( I took the PC from a friend and he lost the CD's ),so what can I do?

I have a powered USB Hub attached to my primary computer at home. After my computer wakes up from Stand By Mode (under Windows XP) the hub does not respond. My current solution is to crawl under my desk unplug it from the computer and replug it in. Then Windows XP identifies all the equipment attached to it. Help! Thanks.

I need to save a lot of information which will be used as search filters. Since there are too many rows in the database, each of these filters has to be a single column of the table, so the search is fast enough. Some of them are numbers, others booleans, others strings, others dates, etc. Is it bad to add as much as 200 columns to the table? How will this affect the effectiveness of my database table? Outlook crashes, takes so much time to load up, as does everything else. Word takes forever to get going and then can't even keep up with my typing. I have a brand new Dell inspiron 1521 with Athlon 64 Dual Core processor 1.70 Ghz, 894 mb RAM, 32 bit operating system.
Is this normal to be running so slow? Is it worth returning the Dell for an upgrade?

I have an Excel document that contains account numbers and I'd like them to visually line up so that differences stand out. I'm looking for a font that equally spaces characters so that "1003110" lines up character for character with "4559877". Because of the number 1 in the first string, the first string appears visually "shorter" than the second.

Are there any fonts that are native/standard to Windows which provide equal alignment to all characters, regardless of how much space they really need (that is, where a "1" takes up the same screen space as a "0" or a "5")?

My computer indicates that I have several viruses. I purchased a software cleaner called Registry Defender. When I started to install it I got spooked because I got an alert asking If I was sure I wanted to enter a space that was insecure or something like that. I am not computer smart. I can still use my computer but every time I sign on there is antispyware alert. HELP!!!

Last night, my registry crashed and will not let me start up my computer (even in safe mode). I have read where you can take a hard drive and use it as a slave drive in another computer to back up files before reinstalling windows. I have a Toshiba laptop and my mom has an HP desktop. I recently downloaded limewire for a picture file I was directed to. I uninstalled it after I had what I needed. I am new and I just downloaded one, When I want to open it, it wants to open as a "limewire torrent". How do I open it? I opened it with winzip, extracted it to my files and tried to open it with bitzipper but it just tells me that there was an "error opening C:\Documents and setting\............................................................. I dont feel like writing the file name lol! How do I open my torrents? are there any programs.
