I have a powered USB Hub attached to my primary computer at home. After my computer wakes up from Stand By Mode (under Windows XP) the hub does not respond. My current solution is to crawl under my desk unplug it from the computer and replug it in. Then Windows XP identifies all the equipment attached to it. Help! Thanks.

This is a known glitch in Windows.

Turn of "Standby", it's redundant on a desktop PC and a laptop when plugged into AC power.

it will continue to behave this way. USB is software based. U will notice that power fluctuation affects it. there is no harm however in recycling ie unpluging and repluging again for it to work after wake up from standby mode. its a normal situation. to stop it u will have to go for alternative cable if ur hub has the option for it

It is probably caused by the 'sleep' mode.

I have used computers for years, both desktop and laptop and never use the 'sleep' mode. I have my monitor go off after 5 minutes of non-use, the hard drives 'never' turn off.

Using 'sleep' mode is a lazy way to overload your computer and put files at risk in my opinion.

I have had my desktop running 24/7 for the past 5 years without problems. My friends use 'sleep' mode and have problems all the time with file corruption.

But then again, everyone is different. Do you let your car idle in the garage so it's warm when you get in it in the morning ?

Thats.. weird.

The only thing I can think of is the hub was not designed to understand what "stand by" means. The only way I would think to get around this is to not put your computer in standby, but shut it down instead.
