I recently downloaded limewire for a picture file I was directed to. I uninstalled it after I had what I needed. I am new and I just downloaded one, When I want to open it, it wants to open as a "limewire torrent". How do I open it? I opened it with winzip, extracted it to my files and tried to open it with bitzipper but it just tells me that there was an "error opening C:\Documents and setting\............................................................. I dont feel like writing the file name lol! How do I open my torrents? are there any programs.

By the way, I am downloading from demonoid. Thanks

Big D

sorry for the bad grammar, I am in kind of a hurry. Thanks again : )

Sorry, that's what happens when you are in a hurry: Yes, the file is on my computer the file location is :

C:\Documents and Settings\Kids\My Documents\My demonoid downloads/ "and then the file name"

please note that what is in " " quotations is NOT part of the file name.

I extracted from winzip to the location I just posted above and it shows as "file type :limewire torrent" the file has a .torrent extension. how do I open it?

Again, I am in a hurry sorry for the bad grammars and any mispellings lol!1!

I susupect that what you downloaded was no the actual file you wanted, but rather a "torrent" file that has the information Limewire needs to actually download the file. A Torrent file has information on what computer are sharing the file so that it can download the actual file.

If the file has a ".torrent" extension, then you will need to reinstall Limewire (or another Bit Torrent program) and use it to open the ".torrent" file. That will start the download of the actual file you want. Depending on the size of the file and the number of people sharing it, it could take mintues to days to download the file.

(Wish you at included the entire file name. It would have given more information for I could have been sure this is the right solution - or given the right one if it was not.)

Torrents are not always guaranteed to work as they can become corrupted during the transfer process. Be careful also as there are sometimes viruses hidden in zipped files. you should always scan your downloads before opening to make sure there are no viruses lurking within. That said, demonoid is quite a reputable site so i doubt its that. try contacting the person who uploaded it and check the comments relating to the torrent to see if anyone else had similar problems.

(1) Dont use Limewire unless you dont mind your machine being made into a Spam Zombie and eventually having both the RIAA and the FBI at your front door.

(2) Use ABC or BitComet to do your Bittorrent downloads.

I am not understanding your question. Have you already downloaded the file to your computer or do you simply have a file with a .torrent extension?
