Hello,

My internal hard disk was damaged recently and so I had to buy a new one and re-install everything from the beginning, and everything works super fine, except for the LAN cable, which it doesn't pick up whenever I plug it in. Before the disk broke, I used to just plug in a cable and the internet would work right away, but now when I plug it in nothing happens.

My wireless works fine, but I also need it to work with the LAN.

So what should I do? I read on another answer here that maybe it's a problem of the driver, but I downloaded and installed all the ones that the laptop manufacturer put on their website, so how do I figure out which driver I need so I can go look for it on the web?

Thanks!

Ok, it's probably the LAN drivers that are missing, so how do I find which chip I have. I'm pretty sure I have Intel, but on device manager it doesn't show up, or at least I have, in network adapters:
1394 Network Adapter
Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

let trace back

1. HDD broken = all configuration was missing

then

1. Check your driver , did your lan icon appear ?
2. If you plug the cable , any blue color respone ?
3. Check ur ip (are u using dynamic or static ?)

If above is not working, i think your lan is messed up. try to buy lan usb then test it. if it still dont working maybe you need to re setup your router

If the correct driver is loaded go to Control Panel/Network and check devices. Make sure the device is enabled. If you right click on it and select properties, some units have check boxes to show an Icon. Double click on the TCP and make sure the two boxes are set to automatic.

Either missing LAN drivers , or your network is not set to cover the current subnet.
