I also have problems with some clips sent to me on email. They download to my document file OK where they play normally, but I can't actually look at them immediately with the email they're attached to. The little screen is just frozen with jagged lines all over it although I am able to hear the video as it plays. Simple language please as I don't understand computer jargon.

well regarding the youtube and other online sites..... it might be the problem of your internet. If the speed is slow, the video takes time to buffer and play.
and regarding the clips in your email attachments, it might be the problem with the player. Use VLC player, it supports most of the file formats.

When it does this it is buffering the video. What buffering does is downloads the video before it plays. For example, when you click the "play" button, a few seconds are downloaded first. This allows content to be viewed while the rest of the video downloads. Sometimes however the download isn't as fast as it plays so it has to stop while it downloads more. Ergo the rotating circles. Depends on the connection speed you are currently at as well as other factors. Sometimes it can't be helped. Cheers!

when you go t those sites the video starts downloading before you start watching it it is called buffering. if your Internet connection and computer cannot download the video faster then the video plays it will cause the stopping and starting that you are experiencing

Youtube and the like stream vidoes and for un-interupted play require a high ADSL(Broadband) speed so the data flow can keep up with the computer.

One possible solution is if the right click, save as, function is allowed, then use this to download to your computer and play it from there. Then delete it afterwards if you want to.

the reason is you are not using high speed internet, if you want to watch videos in youtube you need to have at least 100 kbps of internet
