I heard that files on the computer never really disappear, even after you've deleted them... I just wonder if saved files can still be retrieved after reformatting a PC... Please help me! Our PC was reformatted due to a virus and I lost many files that I wasn't able to create a back-up for! So if it's possible, I would like to know how...

you can use "GetDataBack for NTFS " or "GetDataBack for fat32" to retrieve your files .
when u formay quickly , no file is disappeared from the hard . in this case just addresses to files are removed from hard disc . so you have a hard with no address .
when you copy a new file to this Hard disc ,new file will be rewrited on hard , and so previous data on that part of hard will not be retrievable anymore
so before installing new program or copying any new file on hard you must use GETDATABACK software .

Since quick formatting erases the TOC(Table of Contents) of the hard disk and not the contents themselves, data on quick-formatted harddisk drive can be recovered with various software(GetDataBack, Pci file inspector, etc...)...But if your hard disk has been Fully formatted (unconditional format) then forget about any form of recovery...To be sure, don't install anything on the hard disk and plug it on another machine either internally or externally. Using one of the software above, access the hard disk and check out the contents. If there's ur data left or part of it left, u can be real happy...if u don't see anything, move on to something else...Cheers..

Yes, it is often possible to recover files after a format. This must be done with specialized software. There are services that can do this for you if you don't want to buy the software yourself. One such service I'm aware of is Iomega. www.iomega.com
