Computers & Internet - 12 October 2007

It's slow running basic programs and the internet is VERY slow although other computers at my house on the same wireless network are fast. If this helps: Processor: AMD Turion 64X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80 GHz, Memory (RAM): 1918 Mb, 32-Bit Operating System, ATI Radion X1270, running Vista Ultimate..that may be the problem? Remember, I'm not a computer expert, please, in lehman's terms!! Bigger programs I have may be.....MS Office 08, iTunes, all the Windows & Dell junk that comes installed. THANKS!!! :)

On any other keyboard, I would just hit the to capture an image of my screen. I would then paste it into a document or into paint. It doesn't work on my laptop. I tried Ctrl, Alt & Prt Scr, that didn't work. I also tried Alt & Prt Scr. What am I doing wrong here?

For some reason my computer processor changes speed sometimes, when i check the system info and click general
from 2.2 Ghz to 1.77 Ghz to 984 Mhz and back, does anyone know how to make my comp stay at its highest speed?

I have been using a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz, and and AMD 2.1 Ghz since now, but now I would like to shift in to the latest that technology can offer me. Can any one let me know of a suitible configeration required to run heavy multimedia Applications like Poser, Maya, and 3D's Max?

I have a 17" VGA Display, 250 GB SATA II Hard disk, Asus DVD-DL/RW drive, Key B and Mouse.........

What is the main advantage in opting for a AMD or Intel Solution? Does AMD tend to get hot after heavy use?

I did something very, very bad!!!! Like super bad. I deleted a bunch of files in my c drive, stupid: YES; WHAT WAS I THINKING: I don't know but its bad. it doesn't start and it tells me that some windows xp componets are missing and i need to reinstall windows xp. Can anyone help me please?

so I went away for a week, and my cousion needed the computer for a week and I clearly told her to use the other computer. We have two of them. She mistakenly used the one with the subscribed antivirus. Now I come home and she tells me there are some problems with the computer, like pop ups runs slower than normal and when I looked at it, these things do happen indeed. Also seems like third party sites claiming they can remove the viruses and what not advertisements appear. I know she visited some porn sites. I keep getting messages from the old norton antivirus that virus has been repaired (velara, downloader etc.) and some viruses cannnot be removed as norton says. I am going to the store tomorrow to get norton internet security 2008 because it is what I can get at a good price. I am in a personal need to fix this problem. I am also getting messages like advertisements which seem to say remote computer is tracking. and things are showing on the desktop acting like windows security an

Whenever I see those Mac vs PC ads it makes me want to hate apple and never buy one of their products. They go on and on about how Macs are so much fun but PCs are boring.

I can think of many programs that won't run on a mac and I can do everything and more on my PC than a mac.

When they talk about having fun why don't they mention that there is basically no game support or good videocard support for apple computers?

Does this tick anyone else off?

I would like to find a good security program that gives you the capability of chatting with customer support.
I had paid a year in advance for bullguard. They were good but I added my dad, it slowed his dial up so he cancelled and they cancelled mine too, accidently I think, for a week and I got scores of viruses.( I was gone for that time). They would not own up to it and couldn't contain the viruses so I quit them and they said they will reimburse me.
My son added AVG last week. It is scheduled to run scans daily and I just went into the program and it hasn't been doing that.
Can someone please advise me of a super good program where you can chat if you have a problem? At this point money is no object if they are the best. Thanks in advance! :(

I use a D Link 802,11g/2.4ghz wireless router to service the laptop in my downstairs. It is hooked from my satalite high speed ISP xplornet.com. Lately it has been cutting out and I have to re power the router up for it to start working again. It may last 1 day or 1 week but sooner or later it does it again. It never seems to do it while I am on line....just after long periods of non use. Lately it happens alot.

Can you offer suggestions.

I brought this video card e-Geforce 7600 gs.
It requires 400 watt power supply mininum but I have 250watt in my power supply.
It works fine but can it brake my computer ?
