I use a D Link 802,11g/2.4ghz wireless router to service the laptop in my downstairs. It is hooked from my satalite high speed ISP xplornet.com. Lately it has been cutting out and I have to re power the router up for it to start working again. It may last 1 day or 1 week but sooner or later it does it again. It never seems to do it while I am on line....just after long periods of non use. Lately it happens alot.

Can you offer suggestions.

Thanks Ian

Try to research on D-Link forums, regarding the problem, usually upgrade the firmware, solves that kind of problem, same thing happens to Linksys WRT54G, when i'm downloading huge files using utorrent, it shuts down and restarts every now and then until i found a firmware-patch for that issue, now its working fine :)

Your router, may be configured to shutdown after a length of time, after a period of not being used.

It might be overheating, but I've had one that failed like that too. I would pound on DLink or take it back to the store.
