She mistakenly used the one with the subscribed antivirus. Now I come home and she tells me there are some problems with the computer, like pop ups runs slower than normal and when I looked at it, these things do happen indeed. Whenever a piece of anti-malware reports something but can't seem to delete it, run it again in Safe Mode. Safe Mode often prevents the malware from running and protecting itself.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode:

1. Log out and reboot your machine.
2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.
3. Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.
4. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance. Log in as Administrator. Administrator often has no password.
5. When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Hope that helps.

A while back (before I got Spyware Doctor) I had Norton on my home system and McAfee on my work computer. Both of these programs allowed these computers to become infected by Malware Alarm, so I downloaded Spyware Doctor, did the free scan, and it was able to clean Malware Alarm.

Spyware Doctor also found quite a few other infections that were both spyware, malware, and adware related. I was pretty impressed.

There's a write-up at the link below, where I took screenshots of the process, so you can see Spyware Doctor in action. Hope it helps :-)

first go to the site I list below, house trend, and you can scan the computer for viruses, spyware and so on. You can also get a trial of pc-cillin, which pc magazine among others said was the best there was. Good Luck!!

Since you know the website address, Tools > Internet Options > Security tab > Restricted Sites list.

I mostly use Spybot Search and Destory but also like www.BitDefender.com -- free online scan.

Here's my detailed process.

I would recomend doing a system restore. That works most of the time. If that doesn't work look for a free version of avg antivirus.

Maybe. I suggest you try their trial version first before paying for anything. So that way, if it doesn't work, you can go ahead and try others to see which one works for you (at least for 30 days).
