I know I should get an AGP computer but right now I'm short on cash. Someone posted something similar about an hour ago and it reminded me to ask this.
I currently have a 128 MB PCI Graphics Card and thinking about getting a new game that came out recently. I already meet the minimum system requirements of the game but is it worth spending between $50 and $100 on a 256MB PCI Graphics Card? I have some lag and slow loading time on Online Games when there is a lot of activity in a small space.
How much of a difference would it make in my gameplay? I'd like to cut down lag and run a smoother game is all, rather than better graphics. But is it worth it? What would be a great 256 MB PCI Graphics Card? Thanks!

no it is not ... and the gpu speed is what counts .. if u can find one with a much faster gpu then it myt be worth it ..

PCI bus is inherently slow. Card with bigger memory but same gpu would have little improvement. Card with better gpu and faster memory could have a significant but not awesome improvement. Before buying a new card, try reducing screen resolution and color quality from 32bit to 16bit.
Slow loading time could be due to low bandwidth of your internet connection.

i would recommend getting at least a 512 for gaming these days i have a 128 and it's crap and i had an old computer with 256 and i run alot of games on low ... i would just get a 512

Lastly, you mention that you experience lag while playing online games? That kind of performance problem isn't caused by video card, it's usually caused by the RAM. Try improving the RAM in your machine.

pci cards are pretty slow compared to agp and especially pcie, and i doubt it make much difference in your games, anyways
check if your computer has an agp slot or pcie slot. if it does, get a card that supports one of those formats, preferable pcie

For Gaming not that much,, for a graphic design career (3D).. yes it does.
