I have heard that you can put your internet onto a jumpstick. I have wireless internet, and I was wondering if there was any way I could plug a jumpstick into one of my laptops, download the internet onto it, and put it on one of my desktops. Is this possible? And if so, how can it be done?

Does anyone know where I can get a laptop under $400?? At RADIOSHACK there's a COMPAQ for 5, but I kind of want one for 4 at the highest.
I don't need serious storage.. But a good amount anyway.
I'm not a big gamer, or anything.. mostly just for the use of the net (likeY!A & Limewire, etc.) so it has to be wireless compatable..

Anyone have an idea of where to look? (It would help if you gave me a specific name of the 'top and a place to buy it. also, a website with reasonably priced 'tops would be ideal.. Thanks all!

Does you computer randomly lock up?

I just got a new Compaq laptop with Vista (I had XP before) and it has been doing this. I've noticed it does it more when it is on A/C power, charging. How do I search for something to stop this? I got Avast antisvirus, like on my old one, and now, its asking for a key or something to get it to start. I got it from download.com. Is it a virus or just a windows thing[600 dollars to a macbook =) ]

I play the Sims 2, and it is super slow! I want to add some more memory. How can I add more memory? Will it be easier to just drop off my thing at Best Buy or something? I have a emachine t6528 desktop pc.

I just bought this pc partners motherboard and it will not boot to windows unless I clear the bios first. Then I can get to windows but if I restart the computer I get a no signal message on the monitor. Then I have to clear the bios again to get to windows. So as you see loading programs that need the system to restart to finish loading is impossible at this point.
Help :(!!

I have this old Lappy that doesnt have a working HDD. So ive been on a quest to get it to boot some OS off a USB drive. This is quite difficult because it doesnt have BIOS support for booting USB. Ive been playing around with linux and GRUB and stuff lately. So what im after is:

A Floppy or CD that BOOTS GRUB and has USB support.
So it Loads USB drivers or something, and then can boot whatever i choose. For Example, if i tell it to boot from the Win98 IO.sys file, it should boot thta way. The only issue i have is, as i have said, that the BIOS doesnt natively support USB booting.

Anyway, Any help is appreciated.

hello,im playing my favourite game in my pc with usb joystick and suddenly my joystick is mulfunctioning..then i restart my pc and try to plugin any device in to my any usb port...but nothing is detected...even printer and thumbdrive...when i check the device manager, it says that "the device is working properly". im using the trobleshooter to check the error, and i uninstall my usb and restart my pc, and the windows reinstall the usb, but still cannot detect any plugins and yet it still says. "the device is working properly"..tq

I haven't used excel in years so I've forgotten how all the formulas work. I was wondering if there is a way to take the product of many rows without having to enter in the same formula over and over, but with different numbers. Like for example right now I have =PRODUCT(B1,C1) and =PRODUCT(B2,C3), etc. Is there a special way to just make it take the product of all B and C rows with the same number so I don't have to keep entering the same thing over and over?

Hey all, hopefully someone could help me out on this internet problem of mine. Not too long ago, my internet has all of a sudden gone extremely slow, comparable to dial-up pretty much. I've searched through many Yahoo answers about this topic and none of them helped me much, unless I actually missed something. I've attempted the deletion of Temp. Internet Files, Registery Cleaning, Defragmentation, I even deleted many uneeded files in my PC that freed up to 10 gigs, still didn't change a thing. My actual computer is still fast though (or example, if wanting to open a file or folder, it goes at the normal fast speed I'm used to), however, like I've said, internet is not. What is also weird is that when I check my internet connection, it says it is running at 100 mbps, which I see it to be normal Highspeed internet? It might be that there are many people with my same service using it at once causing it to lag, but this has been going on for weeks. Help is greatly appreciated!

I have the old Infocom software written by Douglas Adams of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, and another game he made called Bureaucracy. I'm curious if I should even bother trying to sell them. I LOVE the HHGTTG and the only reason I'm holding on to them is because of my obsession with the books (I even have a tattoo of the lil green guy!) But honestly they're taking up space in my closet, because I haven't even SEEN a computer that will read 5.25" floppy disks in YEARS. I figure it's only fair that I do something with them because I've made my husband get rid of a bunch of stuff he hasn't used. :)

They cancelled an auction I won AFTER it was over and AFTER I paid for the item, so I sent them a letter telling them this:

You certainly have a nerve "removing" a listing that I have already PAID FOR. At the point where the auction is CLOSED and the only part of the transaction remaining is that the item needs to be shipped to the buyer (me), you are very likely in violation of the law in keeping the buyer and seller from contacting one another. You are aiding the removal of money from my bank account leaving me with nothing to show for it. This is certainly an unethical practice. You people need to check your auctions to see if someone is selling common sense so you can buy some, but then again, it seems likely your supervisor(s) would decide to cancel the auction at the last moment after you had paid for it, with the end result being you would be out a bit of money with nothing to show for it. I suggest you go elsewhere to get your common sense.

My computer has the same OS as when I bought it back in 2001, XP Home. It works like a charm but lately its been acting weirdly when trying to run windows update. Also, I have installed and uninstalled hundreds of programs over the years so the registry is a little cluttered.

Should I reinstall windows?

P.S. - Reinstalling all the stuff I have now will probably take about a month. I'm upgrading to XP Pro.

My parents are opening up a store in an old pioneer village in our town, and one day I was down there taking photos of inside the cabins and such and they turned out really nicely and professional looking so we decided to sell some in old wooden frames.

I was wondering before I printed them off though, if there were any photoshop tutorials that could add to the old age affect? Like maybe something that would help me make them look a little more vintage and antique? If you know of any sites it would really appreciated.

I downloaded a game (conflict desert storm, if it matters) and used daemon tools to install the game rather than burn the iso files to a disc. I successfully installed the game but whenever i try to play the game it says wrong disc inserted. I burned the iso files to dics as well to try and get it to play but it still says wrong disc inserted. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong and what I can do to play the game

I keep getting a message telling me that my IP adress is being used on another computer in the system...I have tried ipconfig/release...ipconfig/renew..its not helping. Only one computer at a time is able to access the internet...as long as one is off, everythings fine for the other. It seems as though the DCHP is assigning all the computers in my network the same IP adress...should I set up a static adress? If so, how?
