My laptop picks up my router, but it cannot get an IP address? It says limited connectivity. What am I doing wrong or what have I not done? I have entered my security key and all lights are on but no access to internet. Please help!

I recently bought a computer with windows vista system.I still didn't have virus software on my new computer.I do go online more offten.Since I have heard about windows vista is pretty much safe system to get virus and spyware.How much chances that windows vista without virus software can be stay safe?

I was once told that the "internet" was just a large conglomerate of web sites which could communicate with each other and nobody owned it. If this is true; then why do we have to pay to get here? What makes it so expensive?

I am planning on selling my Dell Computer that has windows xp installed. I have had this for about an year.
My question is, since all these days i had so much of private information on this computer how do i delete all of the files so that they never can be retrieved.
If i just delete files and sell the computer, files can be recovered. The only way they cannot be retrieved is if i do a format or even better low-level format. However, i do not want to mess up my existing windows xp and other other softwares.
Which leaves me with only one choice. Delete the files "somehow" so that they cannot be retrieved.

Hope i made my query clear.

Is more than a 1 or 2 year/s extended warranty (depending on what the actual retailer offers enough?)
Or is a extended warranty
(although with much more cost to it)
with the maximum duration of cover, a much better if not wiser option?

I suppose in one way, it depends how long you're going to use the product for.

And if looking at selling it later on,
I assume such a product will be easier to sell if it comes with an existing extended warranty?

Do you know of any particular retailers selling computer stock in Australia who do (offer) better extended warranties than other retailers/stores?

I have tried the trial version of Adobe 8 Pro and it does all I ask for, but the price is just too high for no more than I would be using it. I see other products listed that do the same thing, but would like to see some feedback from users.

I changed the domain on my lptp to wrkgrp. I can not login as my acct and must as admin which cannot chng it? I need to log on to my account in the domain to switch back to the domain so i can log in on that account. Is there any account or way to get back onto the domain. And if so can i be able to use both at the same time because my home printers are all on a wrkgrp

Well I recently had my discs corrupted and the guy put in new disc drivers and loaded his version of Windows XP, my problem is, when my laptop starts up, the 'Windows XP' sign come up very small in the middle, with 2" gaps of black surrounding the 'Windows XP' sign.

Whenever I try and play a fullscreen game, the game is exactly the same size as the 'Windows XP' sign that comes up at startup. Is there any chance that I can somehow restore my laptop so that it plays fullscreen programs in FULLSCREEN? Instead of always the application running in the middle of my screen with 2" gaps of black in all 4 sides.

If you know anything about this, ANY advice would be REALLY respacted and I just hope somebody out there can help me. Thanks alot in advance for your answers!

Many times I've had comps that are completely effed beyond saving, and a clean install is the only choice....

And then they b1tch to me, when their comp is working - but without all their programs installed.

How can I explain, in a way that they will understand, that it was for the best?

Its not my fault that people havn't backed up.....

Talk Talk gives me 8MB speed + 40G download alowance

which one should i go for?
