Is more than a 1 or 2 year/s extended warranty (depending on what the actual retailer offers enough?)
Or is a extended warranty
(although with much more cost to it)
with the maximum duration of cover, a much better if not wiser option?

I suppose in one way, it depends how long you're going to use the product for.

And if looking at selling it later on,
I assume such a product will be easier to sell if it comes with an existing extended warranty?

Do you know of any particular retailers selling computer stock in Australia who do (offer) better extended warranties than other retailers/stores?

If you are a road warrior, get the extended warranty. Otherwise, and if you know how to take good care of it, most of your problem would be software related rather than hardware.

I never thought extended warranties were worth much more than the paper they were printed on until I started working for a major appliance manufacturer. I am now a firm believer in buying extended warranties. If you don't use them that's alright, but when you do need them they can sometimes save you the cost of a new item. Definitely worth the money.

I am biased, because I'm against extended warranties in general. The retailers, manufacturers, or 'insurance' companies who provide these extended warranties, are in the business of making money. And, in the case of the 'insurance' companies, there is a cushion of profit built in, in case a manufacturer makes a goof and provides a unit that will defect shortly after the factory warranty period. They run the numbers, and the odds are in their favor as far as the value of the extended warranty goes. But, if you're one of the few who get caught still using their old laptop after the warranty period, and, it does malfunction in that short period, then you're going to look back at this Yahoo! answer with malace, so I advise you to use your "gun" instinct.

dude I have been using a laptop for 4 years now.
I suggest better go for extended warranty coz itz worth it.
Laptops are delicate n mishaps are bound to happen n it cost a lot to repair.
Trust me on this.
