It is NOT virus proof. If you use it on the Internet, get an anti virus program on it ASAP!

I've been working in Information Technology for more years than I would like to admit. Here's a little history lesson.

Way back when, Microsoft came out with Windows for Workgroups, 3.11. This was a special version of Windows that could be used to allow more than one PC to communicate with each other. There weren't too many viruses out there, as there weren't too many people on the Internet. Viruses were usually passed by the use of floppy disks.

WFW was not very secure so Microsoft came up with Windows NT 3.0. This was supposed to be a super secure version of Windows.

In the mid and late 90's Microsoft came out with Windows 95 and 98. Much easier to use, but not very secure. Shortly after Windows 98 came out, they came out with Windows NT 4.0. This was supposed to be an all secure version of Windows to be Hacker and virus proof.

In 2000, they came out with Windows 2000 and ME. ME was junk, but Microsoft made a big deal about how secure Windows 2000 was. They even placed a Windows 2000 server in the Internet and challenged it to be hacked with a reward to anyone who could break into it. It didn't take long and its secrets were out and it was easily compromised.

So Microsoft came out with Windows XP and Windows 2003 server. This was going to be the super secure version of Windows. It didn't take long and there were plenty of hacks and viruses for both.

So when you are told that Windows Vista is super secure and virus proof, what do you think? It was hacked before it even hit the market, but this was kept pretty quiet. It won't be long and there will be plenty of hacks and viruses for this version of Windows.

Do yourself a favor, install a good anti-virus and anti malware program.

Windows Vista is virus proof like tissue paper is waterproof. It may be better than Windows XP but it's not much better.

If you run any Windows system on the internet for any length of time with no antivirus and no correctly configured firewall then it'll pick up viruses and trojans within a very short time.

Vista is about as virus proof as you can get. It's so badly designed even viruses have problems working properly.

NO! You still need to get a antivirus and firewall. Vista is only the safest OS version they have yet but it doesnt mean that you are already safe.
