I think flash 4 was the first to introduce programming, so the flash files became more interactive. Flash 8 unleashes complex object oriented programming, data streams, video, sound controls. Lots of great features, but at the end of the day, if it's just bog standard animation, then flash 4 did it just as good.

that is not an easy question to answer. What's the difference? Flash 4 came out in 1999 and Flash 8 in 2005. That's 6 years of development improvements and growth. Consider that Flash 4 is a somewhat ancient technology that people used years ago to develop Flash movies in their infancy. Flash 4 can do little of what Flash 8 can do.

Flash 4 is 4 versions earlier, so does not have all the latest features of version 8.

yeah dude... there r many versions of Flash... as the version get updated, they patch and remove bugs and some additional features as the newer versions are released... so the latest version will probably be the best, but not in all cases, sometimes older version may prove to be better too... but in this case Flash 8 is better...
