I have tried to create a batch file that will copy my docs to an external hard drive and it doesn't work. Here is what I have.

@echo off
xcopy C:\Documents and Settings\Jay\My Documents E:\My DOcs Backup

I also tried to create a batch so I can delete my cookies and temp files, but that doesn't work either.

del C:\Documents and Settings\Jay\Local Settings\Temp\*.*
del C:\Documents and Settings\Jay\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\*.*
del C:\Documents and Settings\Jay\Cookies\*.*

I have looked on numerous websites to see if I had the correct syntax and everything looks good, maybe I missed something. The only thing that happens is when I double click on the .bat icon it just flashs once and nothing happens

Here's the situation,

I've just switch over from AOL broadband to Be broadband and i'm glad i did, however Be doesn't have a browser and now i'm stuck using Internet Explorer which obviously is pathetically crap!

I need an alternative, apart from Fire fox is there anything else i could use instead.

This days my computer is too slow...specially when I'm on the internet ( I made some tests for the speed of the internet and is a good speed). I don't have so many things on it...just some songs and a couple of pictures, but I don't know what is wrong with him. What can I do to make it faster?

I run firefox in preference to IE; I also use OpenOffice in preference to MS as both are better and more stable.
I have never had a problem opening or saving MS Word docs from internet sites ...until now ..I visited a local Govt. site and the downloadable word docs wouldn't open or download and i couldn't manually associate them with Open office! I DID manage to open them in WORDPAD....Curious that a local Govt. site should have such problems I tried using internet explorer and could open them automatically with open office...........What is going on????
I have not had a problem on other sites!

Is this just a Firefox foible?

Anyone else had this prob?

I just installed Windows XP Professional on my computer & the entire installation process was smooth except no I dont have any sound.

When I go under Control Panel to Sound it says that it can detect no sound device.

i have a pc desktop and a macbook and one monitor with both vga and dvi connectors. i want to hook the pc up to the monitor using the dvi and my macbook up using the vga connector. does anyone know where i can go to get some hardware that can do this? i saw one answer, but the hardware was 150 euros, ouch.

I have a unattached in-law unit on my property. I would like to extend my wireless internet to the unit. The In-law unit is not more then 150ft away or so, but between multiple exterior walls and appliances , not all of the in-law unit has wireless. The far end of the unit has weak and usually no coverage. I have been looking at the PoE devices but they seem pretty slow. Advertise like 200Mbps but really only do about 75Mbps. Can someone reccommend something they use for wireless networking. Basically I want to avoid running Cat-5 to the unit, because that would require jackhammering the patio to run the wire to it.

1- My windows xp installed on my computer is not a legal copy, everytime I try to install windows media player 11, it says your copy of windows is not genuine... blablabla... I now know it is not a legal copy. I have a cd of a genuine copy of windows xp, I want to reinstall Windows xp but I don't know how to, and I don't know if all my documents, files, and data are gonna be deleted...?? Help!!
