I have a unattached in-law unit on my property. I would like to extend my wireless internet to the unit. The In-law unit is not more then 150ft away or so, but between multiple exterior walls and appliances , not all of the in-law unit has wireless. The far end of the unit has weak and usually no coverage. I have been looking at the PoE devices but they seem pretty slow. Advertise like 200Mbps but really only do about 75Mbps. Can someone reccommend something they use for wireless networking. Basically I want to avoid running Cat-5 to the unit, because that would require jackhammering the patio to run the wire to it.

If signal is already getting to it, just put a better antenna on the router. If your router doesn't have removeable replaceable antennas, get one that does and that has higher output. All the linksys, dlink, etc are only outputting about 63mw. There are routers that do 200-400mw which will cover your in-law unit.

or even the Buffalo High Power unit (its only 125mw but still twice that of Linksys/dlink/belkin units.

You can also just add a high power access point to your existing system

is a good one.

Not sure what your concern is with the 75Mbps as 802.11g is only 54? and wired ethernet is usually only 100Mbs unless you have gigabit ethernet. There are NO wireless devices that will run these speeds - if you find one let me know.
With any of these you are far faster than the internet connection even the highest end ones.

Go over to http://speedtest.net check your internet speed! I don't think you will see anywhere near 300Mbs .
