I'd like ink jet printer that only requires BLACK ink cartridges. Any suggestions?

As suggested, get a laser printer. You'll get crisper text with much lower cost per page than you would get with an inkjet. Laser printers are also much faster and require less maintenance.

If you only want black give up the inkjet idea and go for a laser, it will give much more output for the cost of the toner and will be 10 times quicker. The printer cost is comparable these days.
