I run firefox in preference to IE; I also use OpenOffice in preference to MS as both are better and more stable.
I have never had a problem opening or saving MS Word docs from internet sites ...until now ..I visited a local Govt. site and the downloadable word docs wouldn't open or download and i couldn't manually associate them with Open office! I DID manage to open them in WORDPAD....Curious that a local Govt. site should have such problems I tried using internet explorer and could open them automatically with open office...........What is going on????
I have not had a problem on other sites!

Is this just a Firefox foible?

Anyone else had this prob?

There is a Firefox Add-on called IE View which will allow you to access problem sites in internet explorer with a simple right click.

This should solve your problem

There must be some sort of digital rights management in the documents in some way. Or the person who saved it in the first place made a foul up. I know that some PDFs can be drm'd. But I would of thought that would defeat the object of having downloadable information on a govt website.

That is odd. Did you download them and right click them to do an "open with"?
