What are the specs of computer? If you are low on memory and running some heavy program(like Norton anti-virus), then your computer will be slow. Still, here are some tips you may follow:
>Increase your RAM to at least 512 MB for Windows XP, and to at least 1.5 GB for Windows Vista.
>Run system cleaning tools to get rid of unwanted junk from your computer. Here are some good free ones:
1.CCleaner - http://ccleaner.com/
2.Advanced Windows Care Personal - http://iobit.com/
3.Glary Utilities Free version - http://glaryutilities.com/
>Keep your computer secure. Use a proper anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall. Keep your security software updated and scan your computer every 1-2 weeks. Here are some good, free, and light ones:
1.AVG free anti-virus - http://free.grisoft.com/
2.Windows Defender anti-spyware - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
3.Comodo Personal Firewall - http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/
>Keep at least 30% of your C: empty.
>Defragment your hard drive partitions every 1-2 months.
>Download and install all security and software updates from Microsoft.
>Format your hard drive and reinstall Windows every 1-2 years. Don't forget to backup your data before formatting!

1.You should often clean up temporary files folder.
This is because that several different applications will produce some temporary files by using the Windows. The system will save some temporary files in System disk after you visit the web page.If you don’t clean up temporary files folder in time, the disk space will be occupied by these temporary files and the speed will be dropped. What is more important is that a lot of virus and malicious procedures producing in the temporary files cause your systems to stop working.
2. To clean the valueless data in the registry
you can open the registry by entering "regedit" in Run menu from Start Menu of windows. You can make our system and your software more human by editing the registry. However, there are some great disadvantages in the registry. Security of WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI that are the configuration procedures of the registry is not high and restricted by the size. That is, once your computer installed a lot of software, the registry was full, causing the speed of the system to slow. If you are a fan of net work, when you browse the network, hackers will change your registry and ultimately can control your computer or steal your important documents by making use of the character that the registry has low security.
3.There is another method. You only need to download system cleaner software to resolve the problems about your PC. It cleans all things that you want, increases your PC speed, saves more disk space, and helps you to the trouble about hardware upgrade. You can click the website http://computer-optimize.com/ to find the satisfied software

I wish my solution could help you.

good luck!!

Using a registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!

Is it dirty inside? Blow out the dust in the case. Pay special attention to the power supply and CPU fan. Make sure it's off and cooled down before blowing out the power supply.

Kill any apps you don't need. Click start -> Run->type msconfig
In the Startup tab, uncheck everything that you don't need. Microsoft Office, Adobe Speed Launcher and mouse software are three biggies. Disable those, then restart.

Scan for any spyware using Spybot or AdAware. Remove anything it finds.

Need more info - like how old is it...
How much RAM do you have...
What's the processor speed...
Get a start-up program so everything doesn't load when Windows load...
Go to...
www.cnet.com
click on download and do a search for "Start-Up programs"...
They have a few that are free...
You can also go to your start button - click on "run" - type in msconfig...
A panal will come up - click on start-up and uncheck anything you don't need to start wnen you reboot...
If you have an older computer, this will help a lot...Joe
