Using Microsoft Word, just type the base and the exponent together. Then, select the exponent by highlighting the digit you want and select Format then Fonts. Select Superscript and voila!

A simple example -- H20

Type H20
select the 2 only
cl Format
cl Font
cl superscript

If you accidentally include the 0, select it and Format, Font, normal.

Press “control-shift-+” and the cursor would go into an exponential mode. Press the combination again and the cursor reverts back to normal.
