Dell sells computers preloaded with Windows XP & Vista and have also recently started selling PC's preloaded with Ubuntu & FreeDOS.
The problem is that the computers preloaded with a Open Source (free) OS cost slightly more than the same computer preloaded with Windows?
I would think that this would be the other way around, especially since Linux is a free operating system, that they would pass on those savings to the consumer.

It's aToshiba Laptop

when I start it up nothing shows up ... only the screen with the desktop background.

the internet explorer or none of the icons that used to be there dont even show up...not even the toolbar.

does anyone know how i can get it to start normally?

I keep restarting and restarting but nothing..
I restarted in safe mode but nothing...

i have 450 watt power supply assuming i have 400 from it is it ok ? i have bought the graphics card 24 hours back and till now no bad thing it is humming smoothly along ... should i worry ( i live in india bigger smps are not available )

The picture all of a sudden changed to this, I like it when it is full screen (no black lines) how can I fix this? PLEASE HELP!! I tried the settings but it doesn't show anything helpfull. (i have XP with an extra large screen 23 inch? I think that is what it is but I am not 100%.)

I am not dumb and i know how to chnage the screen resolution of a screen normally. But I have just got a new computer and it is not chnaging. I go to the properties and it stays at 640 * 480, i cannot chnage any of the settings. It may be because it syas i am using the default driver, but when i do find the driver, it does not load. I don't know why this question was removed but am asking it again anyways ... you find on newegg and tigerdirect and many other places where you can buy cpu retails 2 types of the same model .. cp1 duo and cp2 duo .. may someone please tellme the difference or is this like a plot where no one should know
If you don't know what i'm talking about you can go check it search for a q6600 u'll find 2 types one worth 500 bucks and the other one like 280 and the q700 has only one model which is like 550 bucks , but its cp1 .. following the 500 bucks cp1 q6600 .... which is why alota ppl get mixed up and confuse that the q6700 is much more expensive than the q6600 cp2 even though tis only an easily overclockable 266 mhz

Its supposed to refresh several times. I have "on error resume next" in my code so it will skip one query if that isn't working. I have it refresh 3 times before it gives up on that ticker. So it refreshed 30 times for 10 different tickers (3 times each) and got nothing. What is going on?

Sometimes this works with excel 2003. It works a bit more often with excel 2002. Closing running programs sometimes helps, sometimes not.

It also gets data from yahoo. Sometimes it gets half the yahoo data but no google data, sometimes the other way around. Sometimes it gets all yahoo data but no google data.

when I go to print a word document with a picture in it, it does not print out picture. I sent to tools clicked internet options and checked printbackground colors and images, but it did not fix the problem. the prin page info says:

I am trying to create an Excel template to graph some data I have. The data will be collected every few weeks and then pasted into one worksheet of the workbook. The columns will remain constant, but the # of rows of data will vary. I tried to just select the whole column (for both the x & y data), but then it graphs all of the rows it can fit in a chart, including all the blank rows at the end... Is there a way to say "graph all rows in Columns A&B with values", or select $A:$____. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

i would like to try and get yahoo messenger for mac to work on vista as you are not able to call people that are using different operating systems and skype is of poor quailty lately.. just wondering if there was a patch or something to enable windows to recognise the mac version of the file... but still keep vista as the operating system.. hope i have explained this well enough

I cannot delete the acer travel mate 650 screen saver!!! its so fustrating and the size of it is actually 10GB and it has taken up almost 10% of my whole HDD. when i uninstall it from 'Add or Remove programe' it says [could not find file "swflash.ocx "] but it is actually in the same folder as the tm650 screen saver.
please help me find a say to delete it as i need the space.
