i have pentium dual core D 820 ( it is power hungry at 95 nm being 2 prescott cores brought together )
ram 1024 DDR 1
DVD writer
Nvidia 6200 LE ( 160 watts peak 110 idling )
80 gb samsung hard disk
asus mobo intel 865 chipset
i have 450 watt power supply assuming i have 400 from it is it ok ? i have bought the graphics card 24 hours back and till now no bad thing it is humming smoothly along ... should i worry ( i live in india bigger smps are not available )

450 watts sounds good to me. What I've read lately is that if you're building a new pc or replacing an old power supply you should opt for a 500 watt to make sure you cover your butt. So I think you'll be just fine.

To know specifically though, you need to research your MoBo; CPU; CD/DVD drives; graphics card; audio card; etc individually and write down their power consumption needs and just add them up. That will give you a close number to what you actually need as a minimum.

And who said that bigger SMPS are not available in India ?
