There should be a setting on the monitor itself, often called zoom, and you want to change this to full.

Sometimes they can get bumped and changed.

Is this a CRT monitor?

If it is, there should be an adjustment on the monitor to adjust the picture out to the bezel.

This does happen occasionally.

There should be 2 sets of arrows to do this. One set - a vertical line with arrow heads at each end and one set - an horizontal line with arrow heads at each end.

These increase the size of the whole picture.

If this does not work, you may have a low voltage problem.

This could be a supply voltage or the power supply in the CRT is failing.

If you have extension cords and/or power bars etc, make sure they are in good repair.

A poor connection can cause a low voltage and it is also a fire hazard.

If it is a LCD monitor, you will likely have to increase your resolution.

Caution, if you increase it higher than your LCD monitor is designed for, you will get a black screen.

If this happens, restart the computer and press F8 to start in safe mode and set it back to a lower setting.

Good Luck.

As long as the picture has good definition at its present setting then the monitor is NOT going bad. What causes an abrubt change in settings that you apparently did not request is that a program you were running or loading did it .Video (movies, slides etc..) Even games you thought you uninstalled ! Older &newwer games, and visual software are notorious for this. Either check your documentation for your monitor or go on the web and see the herz, resolution and all Information for correct settings Programs will definately change display settings to fit their software programming without permission and not put the settings back. Thats all it is, your fretting over nothing. Go to start/ help and support and type display. There you will be shown all steps to follow and you'll learn how to do it right and completely.

if you tried to stretch the screen via monitor controls and that did not work then your monitor may be kicking the bucket..
