Hi,
I would like to know which is the best antivirus s/w that is free and does the job well in the "free AV" league (??).

I have the AVG right now and Norton Antivirus (one that comes with the google pack). What are your opinion on these?
Any help will be appreciated :)

Is it disadvantageous to have 6 internets open. I am listing on ebay and use like USPS< paypal, ebay, my bank and such, it this OK or would it be better to have only like 2 open ??? my puter seems to be doing fine and I have DSL and Windows XP and a $600 puter fromStaples, a Compaq ???

I understand that there is no in-game settings for AF, and that one would have to manually enable it using their video card configuration software. My question is, when enabling an option such as AF (say, AF16x), how would the GPU software know when to enable the abilities as fit (i.e. only doing AF in-game)? Or, is it enabled all the time, and I would even have AF while running Vista? Thanks for your help!

When I open Zune, I get this message:

"The file wmvcore.dll has a version number of 9.0.0.3250 where 11.5721.5145 was expected.
Zune is not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
Do you want to install the Zune from the Zune website?"

--When I click yes, it supposedly downloads something from the website and "fixes" the problem, but when I try to open the Zune program again, I get the same error message! Please Help!

I know that i need an Anti Virus for my computer, so I decided to download Norton Anti Virus only to discover that it is not compatible with the security system that I already have in place. Norton failed to post any warnings to this effect. Once I had Norton in place, it literally "bogged down" my computer. They were very quick to charge my credit card. I used only 1 day of the subscription before finally uninstalling the enrire product. I've searched several sites but am unable to find an e-mail address for Norton Customer Service. I want to request a cancellation.

I am traveling for work and was thinking I may need internet access while I'm away. I don't know too much about computers and wireless, but I heard if you bring an ethernet cord, you can most likely plug it in and get internet access from your hotel room, is that true?

I know my laptop already has a built in wireless connection, but it is not connected (I usually use my Comcast broadband modem with a USB ethernet adapter). If I wanted wireless access on the road, would I need to simply buy a wireless card (In the sense that I won't be near a modem) or will I need to subscribe to a particular wireless service and get a card, and/or install the program on my laptop?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! :o)

I had been a member of Ebay for about a year. I was set up with PayPal for my purchases. In total, I had only made 3 purchases. My credit card statement came and I had fraudulent charges on it that were on the same day as my last Ebay purchase. They were about $3,000 in charges. I cancelled my account after that fearing that it would happen again.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone else had any problems like this? Can anyone recommend a more secure way to purchase things on line?

I always used a lame analogy to a car engine's size paired with it's headers' size. Is this even a correct analogy to use?

I have a Dell 1705 w/ a t2400 and I just want to know what makes the t2450 different? It is a 2.0Mhz duo, but has a smaller front side bus speed ( 533Mhz).

Does one of these chips perform better at "number crunching", but suck at "game graphics"?...and vice versa.

Back to the dumb car analogies...

Will the t2450 beat me in the straightaways, but handle like s h i t in the turns? You get the idea...lol.

Lastly, does this pattern of traits/performance pretty much cover any two chips that have a difference of clock speed vs. bus speed? How much of the bus speed is really represented, or is reflected in the overall performance of the computer?

I will primarily use this laptop to surf the net and maybe work on some MS Word/Excel documents. The main attraction to these two models are the fact that they are Gateway and the price. I have owned 1 gateway for the past 6 years with no problems and it still runs great, as a matter of fact my brother is using it in college. The only factor that makes me feel very uncomfortable is the fact that i will be purchasing from BB, which is not known for its customer service. Any info that can be provided would be extremely beneficial. Thanks.

Hello, you have probably heard many questions along these lines . I am considering buying a laptop in August. I want a laptop that is good for editing. I would want something that can handle 3D editing software without lagging, and could handle a few common games without too much hassle or lag. The main thing I would like is that it wouldn't lag, and I could edit without any trouble. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a laptop and what you edit on it and what games you play and on which settings. I just would like to see the range of laptops and the possibilites. I live in Canada and I would not want to be paying more than $750. Thank you :)
