Thats a good computer for around $800 to $1,000. It has Vista premium not basic. it already has 1gb of RAM and all you need to max it out is another 1gb to make it 2. AMD athlon is ok but Dual processor is better.

Its a good upper end single core proccessor system(top end being amd 4000) Vista is microsofts ( windows) latest operating system release You should be able to play most of todays games .With out knowing your video card I cant say at what settings. Top end video card and additional ram will make a difference (future upgrades)

This computer is decent, yes youll be able to do gaming and editing, whatever you do, face it people we will ALL have to update to vista sooner or later, face it, its not a bad os. Dont know why so many rag it. Yes it currently has horrible software support and hardly no games play nice but it is the new os and we must learn to live with it. Only thing on that computer is ram, you must get that sucker up 2 gigs. with most apps and games itll require it and itll run smooth, but thats not a bad computer at all, i wouldnt pay more then 800 for it tho..

Depends what you mean by good :) that machine will be a great internet surfer/office pc. Aside that its lacking a bit on the cpu/memory in order to do fast efficent gaming/editing/encoding

For the minor price difference i suggest getting into the X2 from amd or the core2duo from intel (NOTE NOT THE PENTIUM D)
Avoid microsoft vista as they still have a considerable amount of beta testing (release-first service pack) to do and alot of applications STILL arnt compatable yet. Stick with xp pro for now
You will note, that does not come with office, you get works but not the full office packages.

a build like this (tower alone) you can build yourself for under 400.00 canadian.

From your post, I believe that your are looking at this computer here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5707024

I would recommend wither this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5983037

or this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5750853

or this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5983031

All of the other ones I suggested are all either cheaper or at most $20 more.

The difference is the processor. The Athlon 64 3800+ is very nice, but older. The other systems have the newer Athlon 64 X2 series processors which are a bit better.

Vista is the latest version of Windows (XP was the version before).

On a Mac, shift/control/3 takes a picture of the screen. If you press shift/control/4, you can click and drag over the area you want; the picture is taken when you release the mouse button.
