I downloaded Windows Vista way back in November. It worked well for a while, but I recently decided I wanted good ol' XP back.

My HP computer did not come with discs with which I could reinstall Windows. So I went to demonoid.com and downloaded XP Media Center Edition 2005 OEM discs. I bought my computer from CompUSA, and so it wasn't used or anything. That matters because the key on the side of my computer should be genuine then. It worked for installation of Windows, but now I can't activate it because it says it's an invalid key. What should I do? I've got thirty days . . . someone help, please.

I've asked around, and everyone is pushing an $80 router. Is there a cheaper one on the market that works well for its value? I don't require super-fast connections or anyrthing. I'd like to pay $40 or less if possible.

I have a wireless mouse and a music essentials pack from verizon wireless. both of these programs say that they work with XP but say nothing about vista. I don't want to downgrade just for these two programs and then have to upgrade again. does anyone know any "tricks" to get it to work?

If I were to connect multiple client machines to a Windows Server 2003 or Windows Small Business Server 2003, is there a specific Vista version required? Would even Vista Home Basic clients be compatible. I was on the Dell website and I was customizing a machine, and it gave the option of "Upgrade to Vista Business so you can connect to network server". This I thought was kind of wierd, but anywho I am asking this just to make sure.

I am using Windows XP with the Securtiy Pack. Have switched out CD Roms and they both can power up and eject the disc, but will not read it. My computer does not show it there. All physical connections are correct, and the drive is set as slave. any ideas?

i have the external hard drive named above, the power cord of which comes in two parts. the part of the power cord that plugs in to the device has a light on it to let you know the power is working. when the power cord is plugged in to the mains, but not the device, the light comes on. but as soon as I plug it in to the device the light goes out and there is no power to the device. Is this a problem with the power cord or the device?

So, I'm using a Windows computer, and I finally decided it was time for a Mac, because everyone I know who has a Mac has no problem with media production. Now, one of the biggest things I'm worried about is latency with MIDI. This, of course, isn't the only reason I'm switching from Windows, but if I get a MacBook Pro, can I expect much lower latency?
