What they are talking about is system requirements. If you are applying for the job and you will be using your own computer, they need you to have Windows XP SP2. Their programs are designed to run on it. You may want to ask them if Vista is compatible, or else you may want to look elsewhere for work. I know, it sucks, I wish the business world could stay up with the current trends, but it just doesn't work that way.

Windows Vista and Windows XP are operating systems. An operating system is a large piece of software that allows you to interact with the physical hardware of the computer like the processor (where the computer "thinks") and hard drive (where your data is stored). in a nice, easy to use format. Both these systems do that in different ways...think about it like American English and England English...they are similar, but there are some things that are very different, like boot and trunk, and windscreen and windshield etc. These little differences are huge in the world of computers. There are a lot of programs that work in both Vista and XP, but there are a lot that don't.

So like i said, check with the company and see if they know if their software is Vista compatible.

Good luck!

Vista is the very latest Windows version. XP Service Pack 2 is Vista's immediate predecessor.

For the online job you're applying for, you should be OK having Vista, but it would be a good idea to ask them and find out for sure.
