I have a wireless mouse and a music essentials pack from verizon wireless. both of these programs say that they work with XP but say nothing about vista. I don't want to downgrade just for these two programs and then have to upgrade again. does anyone know any "tricks" to get it to work?

First off, check the manufacturers website for the newest version of the software. Then, go ahead and try to install it, even though it doesn't say anything about Vista doesn't mean it won't work. A good tip, once you download the install file, instead of simply double-clicking, right click and select Run as Administrator. Also use this method when running the program.

Many times there are patches available from the manufacturers for Vista.

Keep in mind that when you purchase any products to check they are Vista compatible.

It's something called "compatibility mode." Check the Microsoft site for more details (i.e. their help index or forums.)
