i have a windows vista and i have the network connected to a wireless router so i can get online but im having trouble with my internet.it goes really slow and sometimes it doesnt load the page. i tired the diagnose and repair but it only says that there is a problem that cannot be repaired automatically. can someone please help?

First let's rule out freeloaders hogging the bandwidth. I suspect this is the issue but let's find out.

Go to www.pcpitstop and run a speed test (download is all you need to run). Note the value.

Now connect your pc to the wired port of the router, shut off the router's wireless capability and disconnect all other wired devices. Run the speed test again. If it remains very slow compared to the ISP's specification, contact your ISP and see if they have a problem on their network. If the speed is a lot faster with a wired connection and with the wireless disabled, your problem is likely due to hackers hogging bandwitdh. Before reactivating your wireless, be sure to enable the security steps (encryption, preshare key, and MAC address validation).
