I downloaded Windows Vista way back in November. It worked well for a while, but I recently decided I wanted good ol' XP back.

My HP computer did not come with discs with which I could reinstall Windows. So I went to demonoid.com and downloaded XP Media Center Edition 2005 OEM discs. I bought my computer from CompUSA, and so it wasn't used or anything. That matters because the key on the side of my computer should be genuine then. It worked for installation of Windows, but now I can't activate it because it says it's an invalid key. What should I do? I've got thirty days . . . someone help, please.

As a good faith effort, I will email you the answer you need to this problem.

In return, after you fix it, please send me a demoniod invite. Thanks!!

Microsoft keys are assigned by groups and types. What came with your PC was an OEM version designed for HP. An OEM version for DELL will not work with your key. An illegally downloaded copy will not work either.

You should contact HP for a CD.

Well, besides the point that it is usually pirating to obtain software this way, my recommendation would be to look for other cd keys on demonoid. as long as you've already purchased windows mce once u should be legal to download another copy.
