If you are using Windows XP follow these instructions.
hit the "Print Screen" key next to scroll lock and above insert. Than go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Paint
once open go to Edit>paste you should see a picture of your desktop. Now click File>Save As name it and select .jpg for a low file size , and gif for high size high quality That's it. For a mac it's different You hit Command+Shift+3 and that will save it straight to the desktop. That's it you're done.

From what I understand you want to basically capture a picture of what you can see on the screen..assuming you have a PC and not a Mac.....all you need to do is:
1) press the Print Screen (Prt Sc) button on your keyboad (this link may help you locate it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Print_screen )
2)open paint
3) Select "edit" from the top menue near "file" and select paste

Your done=]....hope that was a help

It's built-in to Windows.

Control-PrtSc (PrtSc = printscreen, and it's a key on the keyboard) takes a snapshot of the entire screen and places it in your paste buffer.

Alt-PrtSc takes a snapshot of the active window only and places in your paste buffer.

Then you can paste the shot into Paint or any other image editing program.

Press Fn-Prnt Scrn or Ctrl-Prnt Scrn

Depends what keyboard you have and it will give you a picture of exactly what you see when you look at the moniter.

Of course you have to paste it in paint and save it.

your compuer already comes with a print screen button it should be above the delete key. but it is only set to copy the entire screen. if you want something better, i'd recommend
