ive check to see if a brand new mic works on the computer and it doesnt so that tells me its my computer that isnt letting the microphone work. I use ventrilo alot with my mic and thats why i want it to work so i can talk on ventrilo. i have a built on sound card in my mother board and a PCI slot one and the mic doesnt want to work for either sound card. plz help

A mate of mine downloaded a pirate copy of Windows Media Center 2002 and when the activation prompt came up he clicked it to see what would happen, expecting it to tell him he "had been a victim of software piracy" or something but it just activated fine. Any theories? lol

Hi,

I need to buy a new PC that can run specialist software which is only currently compatible with XP. In about a 6 months a fix will be ready for it to run on Vista. When I order my PC now, what shall I buy?

Partitioned hard drive with two operating systems?
XP system then upgrade to Vista in 6 months? Easy to do?
Something else?

I have no clue.

I have a chance to buy a compaq laptop for $300. I was wanting to know if this brand is any good and if this is a good price. All I know is they paid $500 for it and it is basically brand new. Or does anyone have any suggestions on which laptop is the best? It will basically be for school, my price range would be up to $500. Also where is a good website to purchase one?

Ok, I know, it's been asked & answered A LOT...
However, I'm looking for current opinions & reviews.
I really like the 360 Yahoo... I've found it the easiest so far!
But I need to get a professional site started & I just want to look good to those who will be critiquing my work!
Also, I like the creativity with 360 Yahoo... but since it's still Beta, do you think it's wise or not to use 360 for a professional site? (Right now it seems more like a MySpace site... which in my opinion is over the top... more for personal sites.)
I've come to respect the opinions of Yahoo Answer members & hope you will be gracious again with your help.
Please, don't just give me the blog site name... Please add why you like it. This will help me with my decision.

Yes, I know Microsoft has ended support. But...
I have an extra pc that I want to use for playing world of warcraft, storing my music, and some web browsing. I don't want to buy a copy XP because I already own a copy of 98.

The pc is and intel 4 1.5 ghz. 512 ram and basic components.
I will be using Mcafee virus protection and a firewall of some sort.
Is it still safe to run 98 this way? Does anyone else run 98 like this and have you had any problems?

I currently have AT&T and I have 3.072 Kbps. The new internet service provides Package #1( 512 Kbps Uploads-7 Mbps Downloads) and package #2 ( 1 Mbps Uploads-12 Mbps Downloads).

I want to make a demo to send to restaurants of me playing jazz standards using an electronic keyboard or an acoustic piano. My current setup has been to play the keyboard through the amp and record from Windows Movie maker with an 1/8" jack microphone plugged into the computer. I am getting decent quality recordings. The main problem I am having is that when I burn to the CD,even if I turn the volume up, the recording doesnt sound very loud. I would like to get a software mixer to solve this problem. Anyone know of any freeware available that is not just a demo? I know you can spend $100 of k on a setup but I am not trying to make a major motion picture soundtrack, just something that is functional in making a decent recording that I can package and send to potential clients.

My computer have 228 MB DDR Ram,but when i loded MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL V.3 KOOL EDITION, MY COMPUTER SYSTEM PROPERTIES/GENERAL shows 192 MB RAM. In these days, i am facing very big problem.Now my computer became very slow. sometime i cannot to open media file like videos, FM.
