I created a file through microsoft visio...how do i send it so that the recipient can edit the file without them having to have microsoft visio?

Microsoft only allows clients to view, not edit, using a plug-in for Internet Explorer. What you may want to do is look at using an open source alternative to Visio. Depending on what you are creating you should be able to find them pretty easily. I've used Umlet and Violet UML Editor for some diagram work in Eclipse but they aren't quite as rich/integrated as Viso with say MS Project.

They need Visio to edit it

I would not do such a thing because I am against violence of any kind and any form. Your old boss must have done something that hurt you very much. Forget about it and move on with your life. Revenge never pays! Good luck to you for a boss that will treat you the way you deserve in respect and appreciation of the work you do.
