Old drive crashed.
New drive came with no O/S
Trying to install Vista.
Computer can't see hard drive to install vista on
Thoughts?

Hi. If you have the OS disk then set the BIOS to boot from CD first. The instructions on how to format etc. will be on the CD.

have you tried setting the jumpers on the hard drive?

master, slave, cable select?

What are you using (version of OS)????? My answer is for domicile windows 7. precise-click the commencing up menu and choose "residences". click the "customize" button, and positioned a examine for "demonstrate Administrative techniques". next, start up > courses > Administrative techniques > laptop administration -- on the left, below "storage", decide on "Disk administration". -- click on the force to decide on it. -- below the "action" menu, decide on "All initiatives" > format. decide for NTFS.
