Hey I have this dell desktop and i want to give it a virus or do something to it that will render it un-usable. Any ideas? It has to destroy the computer from the inside out.

My boyfriend has his computer on alot. And even when hes at work people in his house use it. Its basically on 12 hours a day sometimes.

Does this do any harm to the computer. Its just hes only just got rid of a broken computer and this is a new one, we don't want it to go the same way the last one did. He needs his computer for work.

I have a 98 gateway that use to have windows 98 installed in it. I payed someone to install XP. Now I have a bad virus and cant do a system restore. My friend bought a gateway lap top last year with XP and she got 4 XP disks with it for a reboot or somthing. Can I use them for my gateway tower?

I recently bought a PC with Vista and i hate it, it seems like a BETA version... So i decided to downgrade to XP, i had a XP CD so i inserted it and booted up the installation menu, i formated the HD and then a table pops that windows will reboot in 15 seconds and the installation will continue, it does reboot, but after PC reboots the installation doesnt continue, it takes me back to the Format screen... Help

This may sound kind of odd, but once you've entered onto your computer through the hidden administrator account (holding F8 at startup) is it possible to find out the password of another adminstrator power account on the computer? This is a troubling security issue.

About five days ago, I logged onto my computer like normal and connected to the internet. Shortly afterward, my computer shut down randomly ,without warning. Confused, I turned it back on, only to be told my monitor was in Power Save Mode - something I had manually disabled months ago. I turned my computer back off and waited for the next day. I turned it back on, and logged onto my computer. Nothing odd happened, until I logged onto the internet. It shut down once more. Confused, I waited until the next day to try and turn it back on. This time, I did not get the chance to try and log onto the internet - about thirty seconds after me turning my computer on, my computer shut down before my desktop even finished loading. So, yesterday I tried it again. My computer shut down before I was able to even log on. Today, I tried once more, and it told me it was once more on Power Save Mode. Has anyone heard of a virus that automatically shuts down your computer?

I have a compaq laptop about 2 years old, 1 gig RAM and 64 megs of integrated video memory on a nVidia GeForce4 440 video card. I just added a second monitor, 22" Acer (very nice!), and I use it as a dual monitor display. I noticed my computer runs more slowly in terms of opening programs like photoshop etc. Is there anything I can do to speed up my computer to how it was before, without losing my new dual-screen setup?

When I try my laptop in the room whose reception I'm trying to improve, XP says that the reception is 4 out of 5 bars. (Up from zero without the pie plate!)
However even though it says the signal strength is "very good", it still can't connect. I don't get it! (And yes, it can connect in a closer room.)

1. Why is XP apparently misjudging signal strength?
2. Any inexpensive tips to try?
