I'm trying to secure my wireless network at home. I'm running a Belkin Pre-N router. The router, hard wire connections and unsecured wireless connections run with no problem. I'd like to secure the wireless side however. I log into the router and go to the Wireless security page. I select WPA-PSK for security mode. I select encryption technique TKIP. I provide my 8-63 character pre-shared key. I apply changes.

On my laptop now I select my home wireless network, It trys to create a profile for the connection, it recognizes the security, proposes TKIP and asks for the key. I enter the key. It attempts to connect. It takes a long time but finally it usually says signal is weak, unable to connect. Yet without security on, I have no problems. BTW: I'm trying this in the same room so the wireless router is only a few feet from the wireless laptop.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

I have a dell with windows XP, it came with Windows 2000. I have viruses on that computer so i just want to erase everything. I don't have a restore CD or anything. How can I erase the whole computer and what will I have to do after?

I was searching the internet for prices of modem routers when I realised that some specified that they were for the use of certain operating systems.

So, TWO questions.

Firstly, if the router is for Windows 2000, XP and Mac OS X and my desktop computer is Windows XP but my Laptop is Vista, would the router work or not?

Secondly, can you have different operating systems in the same Network? I'm guessing you can, but I just want to verify this.

NOTE TO PEOPLE ANSWERING: I don't mind extra detail but you must include both or at least one of the answers. Please don't go off on tangents like some people have on my other questions, thanks.

I had a problem with my laptop, so I placed the hard disk in a external storage device but I can't open the "administrator" filles on another pc tho it is no encrypted, but I guess it's a priviledge problem, what can I do to access my files? Thanks

I have a kingston usb flash drive (1gb) which I use to store photos on. I recently attempted to open the drive (from two different) computers and it tells me that the drive is not formatted.

Is there anyway to recover my (*priceless*) photos?

I keep mail in my inbox because there's information that i refer back to a lot. I format my computer somewhat too and i move around a lot so i need them to be accesible to me everywhere.

Now all my mail is on the thunderbird and not in my inbox any more so i need to know how to move it back.
I've already changed my setting to leave mail on server
but i just need to send it back there from thunderbird to my hotmail and yahoo.

Work for a tech company and was going to bring in food to celebrate 10 year anniversary there and considering buying bagels (morning), or making something like guacamole, salsas, and chili con queso and bringing in tortilla and pita chips (afternoon snack).

I am re-connecting a web camera to a new computer. However the web camera hasnt been used for a year hence i dont have a cd with the driver for it and the camera does not have a name on it.

I tried to convert to NTFS with no success. My computer still froze up. So I bought and installed the whole program of XP Home, still had freeze up problems.
