This cannot be answered with an exact number, each photo may not use a full 860kb and the SD card may have only 750kb left when the last picture attempts to be stored. Simple math will give an exact answer that in reality is, at best, only an approximation. The only way to find out exactly is to load them and see. Since 1mb equals 1024kb, multiply 970mb by 1024 to convert to 993,280kb storage capacity. Divide that 993,280 by the 860kb per picture to get 1154.98 pictures. I would just be content to know I could store over a thousand pictures and let it go at that.

970 MB * 1024KB (Per MB) = 993,280 KB
993,280 KB / 860KB (Per photo) = about 1,150 photos
And I don't know what the person above was talking about, but they definitely make cards that big.

You also have to consider your camera the more megapixiles the more mbs it will use each shot.
