Hello, on the basis of my 2 years' experience with Apple computer, I would say, it all depends what are you buying and who is the supplier?
Apple treats refubished computer even better than new computer as if there are any problems and flaws, it would be fixed. You would get exact same warranty as the newer computer would get, you would also have an option to buy three years extended warranty. You would get the exact same technical support.
Apple will sell only Apple Certified Refurbished .
Big difference would be a price, you may save up to 40% but with the same warranty and support.

If you want to go with pcs, then I would suggest you, just make sure, what kind of warranty they are offering, are they offering you full support, how old is that computer, and what was wrong with that computer, I would not buy from ebay even they offer you warranty. Also how much discount you are going to get.
Good luck

I had a refurbished Dell Latitude that I got off of Ebay. It worked great at first and then the keys started to act up. Some of my keys were not working and it all depended on the day. So if I had something important to try to type up it was a total pain.
After a year of dealing with it, I sold it again on Ebay in order to try to get something for it and someone who wanted it for the parts bought it.
Personally, I would go for a new one. I had a bad experience though with refurbished ones, so I will no longer buy one. Best of luck to you....

I have had several refurbished Dells, including laptops and desktops. All have performed fine. They come with the standard warranty and you can usually get just the combination of hardware that you want. But the price isn't as cheap as you might guess. These are not older s, just ones that were returned and restored to new condition.

That depends.
IF they are FACTORY refurbished, they usually are just an "older" model that was a "lease return" that they have THROUGHLY checked, and which usually will have the same warranty as a new model, for about 25% to 50% below "new" model's price.
IF they are "claimed" as refurbished by some small company or single party, (as usually found on E-bay); I wouldn't buy it.

I have several refurbished laptops. I recently bought one of the latest Fujitsu Siemens tablet pcs - it came virtually as "brand new", with an expensive Italian leather case thrown in for good measure. Apparently it was a cancelled order and had never been used.

well they would not compare to new laptops b/c most likely there are last gen models w/ older hardware. They function fine if u just need a laptop to check mail or surf the internets. Don't expect to buy a cheap sub $1000 laptop and play games on it.
